Typeface: Interstate Mono Black from Font Bureau. I stacked the letters with an eye (an ear?) to the very oral, oratorial, oracular nature of Obama's campaign: I knew that people would be chanting “o-ba-ma”, as indeed they are. This purely typographic effort is a bit of a departure from a certain kind of design that can seem overly subjective. Obama and his campaign are about so much more than individual subjectivity.
The design started out very spontaneously like this , then became this , then finally became this , and then started popping up in various parts of New York City .
If any momentum can be created or built on by my small contribution, so much the better.
