In a nationwide survey of more than 3,000 health care workers, we found half of health care workers believe racism against patients is a major problem in health care–and just under half indicate they have witnessed racism against patients. The study, which included quantitative and qualitative research, sought to understand how healthcare workers perceive racism and discrimination in their work setting and how they believe these issues affect healthcare outcomes.
