The U. S. Army's written designation for A Company is A/1-11. This would be used in official reports and correspondence. A (Alpha) Company as part of the 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment arrived in Quang Tri Province in July 1968. The last elements of the 5th Infantry Division departed Vietnam in August 1971.
