College Heights is proposed to be an affordable, sustainable replacement for suburbia – a walkable neighborhood system based on research of what walkable neighborhood systems should be and how they should operate.
College Heights is a proposed walkable community on a former quarry site currently owned by the City of Hayward. As currently designed, the project will have a collection of 732 condominiums and townhouses designed to provide a healthy, safe, affordable place to live while lowering dependence on privately owned cars. The walkable neighborhood system approach allows substantially more development per acre than typical suburban designs, and is only possible because of the potential for non-private auto modes
