Since America’s earliest days, Churches of Christ have looked to the Bible as the world’s sole source of divine wisdom, strength, guidance, and connectivity to God. Because of our deep devotion to it, we have long been known in our communities as “The Bible People.” Members of the Churches of Christ truly do believe the Bible is the only authoritative Word of God. Our goal is not only to genuinely know it, but also to allow it to shape us so that we may show Jesus to everyone we meet.
The Bible has always played a leading role in the history of our ever-developing world. Long regarded as the Word of God, it has been used to shape humankind’s morals and codes of law for over 1,500 years. Most importantly, it tells us the story of Jesus, revealing both God’s love for humanity and His plan to forgive and save those who will make room for Him in their lives.
We have already identified the term “The Bible People” as an old-time, friendly nickname for members of the Churches of Christ, but we admit it doesn’t go far in telling you who we truly are. Honestly, we are so eager for you to know us that it might be better to begin by first telling you who we are not . You may be surprised at what you learn!
