View Menu Reservations Our Story Welcome To The Butterfly Club In the summer of 1924, Hal and Mae Sherburne purchased five acres from Ernie Chant and started building the Butterfly Tea Room, named for the many yellow and white butterflies in the nearby field of the Town of Turtle. The Sherburnes hired a young carpenter from Clinton for $2.50 a day to build the Tea Room, which opened in the spring. The Tea Room included a kitchen and dining room on the main level, and a bar and two more dining rooms in the b
