Measles Cases Rising Across North America
Measles is an extremely infectious illness caused by the measles virus. Symptoms can appear anywhere from 7 to 21 days after exposure to the virus, although cases typically develop symptoms 7-14 days after exposure. In 2025, measles cases and outbreaks have been identified across North America. As of April 15th, over 550 cases (two resulting in death) have been reported as part of an outbreak in Texas; over 800 cases of measles have been identified in Ontario, Canada, since October of 2024. Measles cases have been reported in several Michigan counties so far this year.
