The master-planned community of Kingwood was first established in 1971 by Friendswood Development Company, a subsidiary of Exxon. It is the largest master-planned community in Harris County. Your home is in one of Kingwood’s original villages. In fact, Kings Forest was originally the very back of our town. Construction on Section 1 began in 1972, Section 2 was added in 1976, Section 3 in 1978 and Section 5 in 1989. Kings Forest was the first village to feature large lots.
Our village has several characteristics that set it apart. Kings Forest accurately reflects Kingwood’s nickname “the livable forest.” The many mature loblolly pines and deciduous shade trees give our neighborhood the appearance of homes nestled in the woods. Per agreements with Friendswood Development Company, home builders took great care to preserve as many trees as possible as the neighborhood was constructed.
