The LWRA (Lake Wales Radio Amateurs) was founded in 1974 by local Hams and has over 60 active members on the roster. We are an ARRL Special Service Club. We are the leaders in our Amateur Radio communities who provide active training classes, publicity programs and actively pursue technical projects and operating activities.
The group is made up of folks from all walks of life with one common interest: Amateur Radio. Our membership consists of year round local residents and “Snow Birds”. Our activities include local chatter on our repeaters, family picnics, QRP (low transmitter power operating), DX (long distance) chasing, contesting, digital voice and data communications, and ARES.
