A New Years Message from Route 66 Centennial
As the New Year approaches, we draw closer to the Centennial Year, an event that promises to unite the nation in honoring a road that profoundly impacted our history. However, despite the optimism surrounding this occasion, several significant challenges remain that threaten to hinder its success.
The celebration, initially conceived as a national event, has been severely curtailed to the eight states that comprise Route 66. This decision has missed an opportunity to not only commemorate the road but also revitalize the communities that support it and provide them with a renewed sense of purpose.
