Description: Troop 170 is a Scouting BSA troop that meets in North East San Jose, CA. This site is used to share photos from our various outings and gatherings.
Scouting BSA is one of the only youth organizations in the United States that heavily focuses on going out into the outdoors and experiencing life in the outdoors. Scouts go camping and hiking multiple times a year to exciting new locations of their choosing and participate in high-adventure activities ranging from snow camping to river-rafting to zip lining.
Scouting teaches useful general skills, such as first aid, cooking, and knot-tying, but also teaches a wide variety of other skills. Merit badges offer a plethora of subjects ranging from Robotics, to Archery, to even Climbing -- with more than 120 merit badges to choose from, Scouts can learn about anything they are passionate about. Additionally, Troop 170 is almost entirely youth-led, with Scouts working together to advance in rankings and plan camping trips and hikes. Each Scout is able to gain confiden
Scouts in Troop 170 meet every Wednesday where they can plan outings, learn new skills, and make plenty of new friends. Outside of the troop meetings, they have the opportunity to spend time with each other on outings that can include a wide variety of activities together. Whether on a snow camping outing, a backpacking outing, or even an orienteering course, the Boy Scouts in Troop 170 can make many long-lasting memories together.
