The above is 3 rd mantra of the 30 th Chapter (Adhyaya) of Yajur Vēda. The meaning of this mantra as given by Swami Dayananda Saraswathi is as follows.
O God! You are the one who shines the Sun and gives us the knowledge of the Universe and its constituents. You are the one who creates the Universe. Please remove our entire sorrows, bad habits, bad thoughts and bad ideas. Please keep us away from them (sorrows) and keep them (bad habits, bad thoughts and bad ideas) away from us. Please sanction us with that Good which is cleared of all sorrows and that pleasure which is all tranquil.
