     The final event of the evening was the announcement of the Arizona Book of the Year 2016 , an award drawn from the First Place winners of three published categories: Children's Literature, Fiction, and Nonfiction. 

     The finalists were: For Children's Literature, Lisa Potocar from upstate New York for her book , Train to Glory; for Published Fiction, Sharman Apt Russell of Silver City, New Mexico, for her book, Knocking on Heaven's Door; and for Published Nonfiction, Wayne Winterton of Peoria, Arizona, for Stories from History's Dust Bin.
